January 3, 2010 ... a day of rest ... sort of

Today was a very good day ... church this morning and then came home and prepared lunch. While Martin was conducting a nursing home service the boys and I started putting Christmas items away. Now the house feels bare and I miss those things that made it feel more festive, especially the tree. Yet, likely behind the 'missing-ness' is a wish that there had been more time spent with family and friends; after all, for me, preparing the house for Christmas is a symbol that this surely will take place! This little time of reflection has provided a timely reminder to make space for others throughout 2010, including more time for that which brings me special joy ... visiting with family and friends.
