In Burgos

I have two minutes left on this computer! We are in the city of Burgos right now.

A large modern albergue that we are staying in.

We are about to go out and check out the cathedral and perhaps go to pilgrim´s mass tonight. It is a nice sunny day today ... two days in a row!!!!

This is the largest city we have been in, about 170,000. We walked 10 kms just to get through the city to get to where we are staying. In a day´s time we enter what appears to be the prairies of Spain.

This might be a very hot and tiring few days of walking. We covet your prayers. God bless and much love to all!!!

  1. Mary sent me your blog address last night, so you will be hearing from me. I thought, "The rain in Spain lies mainly in the plain," so you might encounter a few thunderstorms on the hot prairies. Glad to read that you are having the "trip of a lifetime". Love and all the best in nature, Matuga

  2. Just to let you know, I was talking to Mom this afternoon and mentioned that I had read your blog prior to calling her. She indicated that she would certainly like to know what you are doing and hear your descriptions of the places you are walking but she doesn't have access to the Internet. I told her that I will read some of your "stories" over the phone. I want her to feel like she is "in the loop" as you know she does like to know what we are doing. I thought you might like to know that Mom seemed genuinely pleased that both of you are having such a great experience:) Love, Matuga

  3. Have a great time, Martin and Carolyn! Buen Camino!
Paul, Forrest and I walked the 800km last Sept-Oct....we are having such fun reliving our memories of each location you are describing on your journey. Be sure to have some cafe con leche and a piece of santiago tart...mmmm.... delicious. Those little pre-packaged cakes you see in the markets are actually very tasty.cakes. Blessings!

  4. JoAnna,
It was so cool to get your note just now. I am glad that our little notes are bringing back fond memories for you. :)

We have had lots of cafe con leche, but, am finding that I must now order it ´grande´ with the hope of getting a little bit more! It is delicious, but, as you know there are no refills!

Martin says hi and he is sure that you would have enjoyed all of the historical artifacts that one has the opportunity to experience here on a daily basis. We just don´t have the length of history in Canada as we do here in Spain. We are in awe, with almost every step!

  5. Matuga,

Thanks so very much for connecting mom to our blog. This means a great deal to us. Norma said that she would link mom up to it when mom visits here, but, this is much better if she can get a semi-regular update.

We are also thrilled that you are following our steps here in Spain. Have thought of you so very often and have seen so many picture perfect places that I know you would love to get your camera and brushes and canvas out for. I do hope you get over here at some point. The colours are awesome!

Thanks as well for posting the info about the rooster in the cathedral. :) It was the coolest thing ever and will always bring a smile to our faces whenever we think of it.

    Love you sis, stay well.

    Carolyn and Martin xo
